Tonight, seventy-three AHS Dual Enrollment students will be graduating from Coalinga College. This has truly become a proud tradition and a testament to what Avenal High School has accomplished year after year.
Nearly ten years ago, AHS had a vision—to give students the opportunity to take college courses while in high school and earn both their AA degree and high school diploma at the same time. With the support of then-Superintendent Dr. David East, as well as AHS Principal Juan Ruiz, West Hills College Chancellor Dr. Frank Gornick, and many others, that vision became a reality.
It takes dedication and hard work to achieve this goal, and our students continue to rise to the challenge year after year. From counselors and teachers to college instructors, so many have guided and supported these students along the way.
We are especially proud to see some of those students return to RSUSD as educators, giving back to the community that once supported them.
